Leading columnist and progressive writer Munnu Bhai passed away

One of the most well known progressive writer, poet, play writer and columnist Munnu Bhai passed away this morning at the age of 84 in Lahore. Pakistan has lost another progressive and pro-people voice. Munnu Bhai was a socialist and defended socialist idea throughout his life.   According to the family, Munnu Bhai had been facing numerous cardiac and kidney complications since a long time and he breathed his last at a local hospital. He was born in Wazirabad, Punjab in 1933.

His original name was Muneer Ahmed Qureshi but later known as Munnu Bhai. He was one of the most well known columnists of the country. He will be remembered for his services to promote art, literature and progressive thoughts. He was a staunch supporter of democratic process and rights. He supported the cause of working class in his writings.
