Nine people injured in Peshawar blast
Nine people
including women injured in a bomb blast near Karkhano check post wounded in
Peshawar. The injured have been shifted to the Hayyatabad medical Complex. Two
injured women are in critical condition according to the hospital sources. According
to the Hayyatabad Medical Complex spokesperson, nine persons injured in the
blast were brought to the hospital, five are women.
The Karkhano police check post is located at
the border between Peshawar and Khyber tribal districts. Senior Superintendent
of Police (SSP) Operations Peshawar Zahoor Babar said that an Improvised
Explosive Device (IED) has been used in the blast targeting the check post.
Police has cordoned
off the Jamrud-Peshawar link road after the blast. Rescue sources said
that the wounded were mostly passerby including women. Rescue 1122 workers
reached the site, which has been cordoned off by the police and Bomb Disposal
Unit, as personnel comb the area for evidence.
It seems
that the terrorist outfits have once again increased their violent activities in
last few weeks KPK province. The terrorists are targeting the security forces
in bomb blasts. On December 19, a Frontier Corps soldier was martyred in a
landmine blast in Landi Kotal while on patrolling duty. 11 people injured in another
blast outside the KP assembly on December 16.
