Senior bureaucrat Iftikhar Shallwani appointed administrator Karachi

Sindh government also decided to appoint bureaucrats as administrators in the province 


Sindh government has decided to appoint senior bureaucrat and former Commissioner Karachi division Iftikhar Shalwani as administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. The official notification would be issued in this regard today Saturday. The spokesman of Sindh government Murtaza Wahab has confirmed this appointment.  He will work on this position till the election of new mayor of Karachi. 
Iftikhar Shallwani was working as secretary local government, housing and town planning Sindh. 
He served as commissioner of Karachi and was transferred few days ago. He worked as commissioner Karachi for nearly two years.  
PTI,  MQM-P and other political parties hasn't reacted yet on this appointment. It is not clear yet that what kind of reaction will come from opposition parties in Sindh. 

He belongs to Pakistan Administrative service group also known as DMG Group. In 1983 he was schooled in Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences where he got his MBBS degree in 1990. In 1993 he qualified Central Superior Services and selected as a DMG Officer. During service period he worked in different departments in Pakistan. In 2004 he left for London for his Master in Regional and Urban Planning Studies and completed his degree in 2005.

He has served as secretary Health, DG Sindh board of investment and law secretary in Government of Sindh. On his promotion to BS 21 he served as Additional secretary ministry of industries and Production. Mr. Iftikhar Ali Shallwani has vast experience of International Relations, Public Policies, Human Rights, Foreign Policy, Economic Development.
