Petrol and diesel prices increased


The federal government announced to increase the prices of Diesel and petrol. The petrol prices increased by 1.77 and diesel two rupees. The Finance minister Ishaq Dar announced the increase and also said that the prices of other products were kept unchanged. He said that OGRA and ministry of oil and gas demanded much more increase in the prices of different products but prime minister directed the ministry not to pass on the whole burden on the people. He said that prices of kerosene and light diesel are used by low-income segments of society so the government decided to maintain the prices.

The new price of diesel will be 77.24 and petrol 66.27 rupees per litre. The government is earning Rs 10 per litre on petrol and Rs 17 per litre on diesel as general sales tax (GST). The finance minister claimed that the government has reduced the taxes on petroleum products to share the impact of lower international prices with the consumers.
