Labour conference organised to pay homage to Chicago labour martyred


Pakistan National Trade Union Federation (PNTUF) organised labour conference to pay homage to Chicago labour martyrs and to discuss the problems faced by the working class in Pakistan in Lahore Press Club. The workers and leaders of different public and private sector unions attended the labour conference. Large number of women workers also participated. More than 200 labour activists and leaders participated in the conference. 

The conference was presided over by veteran union leader Ch. Muhammad Hussein and former president of Lahore press club Nasir Naqvi was the chief guest.Shaukat chaudhry secretary general Pakistan Mazdoor Mahaz, Malik Shabir Ahmed secretary general PNTUF, Amir Suhail president PNTUF, Waris Ali chairman PNTUF, Jahangir Khan president PTV union and other labour leaders spoke at the conference. 

The speakers asked the government to stop anti working class policies. They demanded to increase the wages and implement the labour laws. They also demanded to abolish the contract system in the factories. They asked the workers to unite themselves to launch the struggle to protect the rights of the workers. The speakers paid glowing tribute to the Chicago workers who sacrificed their lives for 8 hour wording day.
