New Punjab budget, big increase for development, health and education allocations


The provincial finance minister Dr. Ayesha Ghous Pasha presented the  1970 billion rupees Punjab budget. The record 635 billion rupees allocated for development. The development allocation gets the 15% increase. The health services gets the largest increase of 58% in this budget. The health sector spending increased from 70 billion to 111 billion rupees. More than 20 billion will be spent to provide free medicines in the public sector hospitals.

The education sector will get 82 billion rupees in the new budget. The higher education will get 18 billion rupees. The Punjab government also allocated 21 billion rupees for agriculture sector. The maximum amount will goes to the subsidies provided to the farmers.
