Begum Kulsoom Nawaz or Shahbaz Sharif will be next president of PML-N

PML-N’s top leaders met in Islamabad to decide the new president of the party. The party leadership discuss the two possible names for the top slot in the party. The names of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif were discussed. PML-N will choose one of them as president. Shahbaz Sharif has already chosen as the candidate for prime minister if PML-N won the next election.

The party sources are giving conflicting accounts of the meeting. Some sources are claiming that Shahbaz Sharif has been chosen as next president of PML-N. But some sources are giving name of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz as president. Shahbaz Sharif seems to be the favourite candidate for the top slot as begum Kulsoom Nawaz is still going through the medical treatment of her illness.

Earlier today, PML-N Chairman Zafarul Haq had told reporters that PML-N's central working committee will appoint the party's interim president next week. The party leaders give Nawaz Sharif the right to choose his successor. 

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presided over the meeting attended by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Maryam Nawaz, Pervaiz Rashid, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Abid Sher Ali, Danial Aziz and others. Sources said the meeting also deliberated on SC verdict against Election Act 2017, next party president and future line of action.
