LHC ordered deputy speaker Punjab Assembly to conduct the election of new Chief Minister Punjab on April 16
Chief Justice Lahore High Court Muhammad Ameer Bhatti announced the short order reserved yesterday on the petitions filed by the PML-N Punjab CM candidate Hamza Shahbaz and deputy speaker Punjab Assembly Sardar Dost Muhammad Mazari.The LHC ordered Punjab Assembly deputy speaker to conduct election for Punjab chief minister's office on April 16, rejecting the plea to hold the election for before April 16.PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz, a contender for the CM's post had filed a plea in the LHC for holding early elections which was rejected by the honourable LHC, while Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Dost Muhammad Mazari had moved the court for the revocation of the deputy speaker's powers.
Now Deputy speaker Sardar Dost Muhammad Mazari will preside over the proceedings of Punjab Assembly on April 16 in which new CM Punjab will be elected. Ch Pervaiz Ilahi of PML-Q supported by the PTI will compete with PML-N candidate Hamza Shahbaz to become the next CM Punjab.
