NA-245 Karachi by poll- polling underway amid very low turnout

Voters have shown very little interest in the by-election so far

The voting is underway in NA-245 Karachi by poll. The polling is going on in a peaceful atmosphere so far. No incident of violence has reported so far. The turnout is very low. Very few voters bothered to cast their ballots. It seems that voters have shown that they don't trust any of the candidates in the run.
At some polling stations, the turnout is just around 3%. Overall turnout is not more than 10%.
The real contest is expected between PTI candidate Mehmood Baqi Maulvi and Moeed Anwar of MQM-P. The veteran MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar is also in the run as an independent candidate. TLP, MQM-H and PSP also fielded their candidates.
There are total 15 candidates in the run. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has established 263 polling stations for more than half a million voters. Nearly 60 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive.
This seat fell vacant after the death of PTI MNA and TV host Dr Amir Liaqat's death. Dr Amir won this seat on PTI ticket with bagging 56,673votes and defeated Dr Farooq Sattar of MQM-P who secured 35,429 votes.
