The 11-party
opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement has announced its new schedule
of its anti-government public rallies across Pakistan. The first rally will be
hold in Gujranwala on October 16, Karachi on 18 and in Quetta on 25 October.
PDM will
hold two public rallies in November. The rallies will be organised in Peshawar on
22 November and in Multan on November 30. The opposition will hold its last
public rally in Lahore December.
The
opposition alliance PDM has already announced to organise a long march towards
Islamabad in January to stage a sit-in.
The Steering Committee of PDM also announced its office bearers. The chief of JUI-F Maulana Fazal Ur Rahman will be first president of opposition alliance. Former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf of PPP will be senior vice president of PDM. PML-N senior leader and former PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will be secretary general of PDM. Senior leader of ANP Mian Iftikharudin will be secretary information and spokesman of PDM.
PDM leaders
said that the meeting also condemned the first information report (FIR) lodged
against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and other PML-N leaders. The PML-N
leader alleged that the government has damaged the Kashmir cause by implicating
Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider in the FIR.
The FIR
alleges that the former prime minister, in his speeches, supported the policies
of India, and claimed that Nawaz wanted to give the impression that Pakistan
will be listed in the Financial Action Task Force's (FATF) grey list in its
upcoming meeting.
