Massive increase in the prices of Diesel and petrol announced
The government increases the price of petrol to Rs233.89 per litre and diesel Rs263.31
The coalition government led by PM Shahbaz Sharif has dropped another petrol bomb on the already struggling people of Pakistan. The coalition government once again succumbed to the pressure of IMF to end subsidy on petrol and diesel. The government will not provide any subsidy on the petroleum products from June 16.
The price of diesel jacked up to Rs59.16 per litre while price of petrol increased Rs 24.03 per litre. Finance Minister Miftah Ismail and Federal Minister Dr Musadik
Malik announced today June 15 that the government has decided to increase the price
of petrol and diesel.
“The
[government] will now bear no more losses on petroleum products,” the finance
minister said during a press conference, asking the masses to bear the burden
for a few months as the government had no other option.
“We know
that people would suffer because of this, but we were helpless as the other
path was the path of destruction. We will not take the country towards it,” the
finance minister said.
The finance
minister the government would soon control inflation and provide relief to the
people.
